Staff Infection: CanCon Crazy

Canada. I love it. I love it so much I moved there. I'm sort of half Canadian anyway. However after I moved there, I realized living there was a lot different than visiting. The tough streets of Toronto were too rough for me, so I moved back to Detroit! Hah! Considering most of my friends in Canada are musicians or the girlfriend/wife of a musician, I hear a lot about new bands before they become popular and have had the chance to see a few of them rise from opening gigs in the middle of nowhere to headlining large venues. This week, I salute Canada! P.S. Love in October, aren't from Canada, but I met them in Canada, they've recorded at Chemical Sound in Toronto, and they fit right in with this list. So deal with it Canada and your CanCon rules.

Meligrove Band, "Halflight," from Shimmering Lights (Release date 9/21/10)
Justin Rutledge, "Be A Man," from The Early Widows
Sleepless Nights, "Everybody's Dancing," from The Phone Booth Outside the Video Store
Gentleman Reg, "How We Exit," from Jet Black
Colleen and Paul, "Please Be Kind" (demo) from Colleen and Paul
The Albertans, "High Noon," from Legends of Sam Marco
Love in October, "Dance Johannes Kepler," from Love in October

Every week a different Green Light Go staff member will write about what bands have infected their ears for the week and give you an opportunity to hear it for yourself.

This week: Shannon McCarthy, Green Light Go Writer/Blogger-in-Chief/Image Consultant
