Pop Goes the Weasel - Celebrity Time Travel With Alan Cohen Experience

Alan Cohen Experience is back with more pop culture insanity. We'll just let him speak. P.S. This is the second time he's mentioned Lady Gaga...

"Good Folks of the Earth, after being pestered by hundreds, no... make that THOUSANDS of people, all saying to me, 'Hey! Alan Cohen Experience! Let's talk about time travel!,' I decided, OK, I will talk about time travel again. I will talk about time traveling with famous people."

Lady Gaga - I would take her to 1990, so she can be as shocking and outrageous as she pretends she is. Better yet, I would take her to Bay City, Michigan on August 16, 1958 so she can witness the birth of Madonna, steal the baby, raise it and pretend they are sisters.

Miley Cyrus
- She would come with me to Princeton Junction, NJ on February 2, 1993. Here she will witness the brutal torture I went through in elementary school gym glass, when it was too cold to go outside AND THEY MADE US LEARN LINE DANCING. For two months straight! The "Achy Breaky Heart"... ArrgghhhH!!!!!!!

Bill Clinton
-
I would take him to Goa, India on May 7, 1973, because askmen.com listed this time and place as the 10th best party scene in history. Bill Clinton is the 10th best party animal in history, and I am very much looking forward to this trip. Oh, and May 7 is my birthday.

Michael Jackson
- ...is dead. BUT, if he were still alive, I would take him to August 10, 1979 to Los Angeles, CA. We would hang out at the album premier for Off the Wall, and hope that the pure magical energy of that album would not only bring him back to life (because he is dead, after all), but it also would reinvigorate him to make some more of the greatest albums ever (with Quincy Jones).

Justin Bieber - I would take Justin Bieber to the beginning of The Cretaceous Period and leave him with the savage dinosaurs. I would then get back into the time machine and zoom off, but the joke would be that I would land only a mile away. I would wait until he was caught in the web of a gigantasorously huge spider web, and then grab him and bring him back. I would scare him like this just to let him know that he is pretty annoying, but that my little cousin has a bad case of Bieber Fever, and I would feel bad being responsible for him getting eaten by a spider. I would stare at him real close, and just whisper, "Watch it Justin. Watch it."

Pop Goes the Weasel - Alan Cohen Experience

Introducing another GLG Guest Blogger....drum roll..... Alan Cohen of Alan Cohen Experience! The man is like a walking pop-culture encyclopedia that can crack you up as well as throw some sci-fi, rollicking pop at your face. Need we say more, take a look at his "writer" headshot, which he's "talking to his manager on." Gotta love it. We are pleased as punch (whatever that means, maybe he can tell us) that Cohen will have a monthly column about pop culture. Anything and everything. And so we have, "Pop Goes The Weasel," and Cohen's first stab as a Guest Blogger is nothing but completely awesome fun that would make even a vampire laugh....but probably not Lady Gaga.

"As the good Doctor prescribes, this great nation of ours is in need of a good dose of Vitamins to pop (culture)."

Vitamin A - Short for Andy Warhol. Yes, with all the political, geographical, and environmental frustrations, we as a people need someone to shoot... pictures of... all the time. Someone ugly that makes us feel that we all can be great! Someone presiding over a drug-induced, extensively productive, proto-hippy, neo-something group hug. Someone who can bring us a band that can both be cool and write great music: The Velvet Underground (Vitamin VU).

Vitamin BC - The energy and the feel-better vitamin. Obviously this is for a healthy dose of Bill Cosby. Charlie Brown (Vitamin CB) is the only other person on the face of the earth whose iconic image is so closely tied to a sweater design. One trip to the Middle East, and you will see lot's of mustached men in Vitamin BC fashion. In the desert. They adore him.

Vitamin D - The sunshine vitamin. Doo Wop. Feel good music that is awesome and cheesy. Not unlike a good burrito (Vitamin YUM). Frank Zappa tried to bring it back. We need to stop this global obsession with awful club music that managed to fool us into thinking it is "pop." The Drifters are "pop." Michael Jackson is "pop." Coca-Cola is "pop" to the "other" part of the country. Lady Gaga is not "pop," people.

Vitamin E - Eddy Spaghetti. Cousin of Riga Tony. Lookalike for Tony Danza. You need a good dose. Trust me.

Some others...

Vitamin BW - Buffalo Wings

Vitamin GSW - God Street Wine (look them up)

Vitamin BT - Take a bath, stink-face. In a tub.

Vitamin TT - Time travel. We need to steal this technology from the Japanese.

Vitamin LD - Larry David

Eat the Peace,
Alan Cohen Experience

Aquaman & Mustaches. Thank You The Motion Sick

Oh, you ironic, pop culture loving men of The Motion Sick. As if you're regular music wasn't enough for us to bop our heads to, you go and write songs about mustaches and Aquaman and you expect us to NOT love it?

With the 4-song EP Novelty Songs: Volume One, could the band be hinting at a series of "silly songs" in the future? We can only hope.
Novelty Songs is now available for purchase via download on the band's website for only $3.50 (you can also get it on iTunes). The "novelty" tracks include "Surfin' Retiree," "Tennis Pro," Aquaman's Lament," and "I Grew A Mustache."

Head over to The Motion Sick's website and you can get a short taste of each song for free. But trust us, seriously......a song about Aquaman and his poor excuse for being a super hero. You almost feel bad for the fish-loving guy.
Oh, and you thought the band's video footage for "I Grew a Mustache" was good. The Motion Sick presents "Aquaman's Lament" in a mashed-up video montage of cartoon clips.
