Staff Infection: Valentine's Day

It's kind of a cliche to hate Valentine's Day. Especially if you're single. While I can't say that I'm in love with the card- and candy-selling holiday, I took this year's February 14th to explore the sadder side of the love song. From the triumphant to the tissue-worthy, here's my list of love songs that touch the darker side of the heart.

Fitz and the Tantrums - "Money Grabber" from
Pickin' Up the Pieces

Cee Lo Green "F*ck You"

The Decemberists - "O Valencia!" from The Crane Wife

George Jones - "He Stopped Loving Her Today"

Every week a different Green Light Go staff member will write about what bands have infected their ears for the week and give you an opportunity to hear it for yourself.

High Five! from Green Light Go's Kelly Bennett

I discovered the merits of these things over the holiday weekend...

Dehumidifiers are currently playing a huge role in saving a building where I spend a ton of my time. The new Sherlock series has me counting the many, many days until the next super high quality series comes out. Plus, the lead actor's real name is Benedict Cumberbatch. Only the British would allow a guy to work under that name. The Fable video game series has been a part of my life for a long time. The latest installment is a little too pared-down for my liking, but my love of the universe they’ve created keeps me coming back, with a strategy guide in hand. Someone finally convinced me to try gin and ginger and I've gotta say, it’s a new favorite. Zesty! Detroit Metal City is a phenomenon that has escaped my knowledge for way too long. Manga, Anime AND a live action movie? It's grotesque, loud, and hilarious!
